Less Baggy, More G? Time to Rethink Pants

Let’s be real, baggy pants have completely taken over in recent years. From skateboarding to streetwear to even high fashion, the oversized fit is everywhere. But when does baggy become too baggy?

The trend has almost gotten out of hand. Compared to today’s ultra-wide fits, OGs who have always rocked baggy jeans now almost look like they’re wearing regular-fit denim.

So my question is… what is too baggy? And can less baggy sometimes be more OG? (Spoiler: Yes.)

Honestly, this whole article is just me venting because I can’t take it anymore, I keep seeing people walking around in skirts.

Where are my Gz??

The ultra-wide trend has reached a point where some fits feel like an exaggeration of the original streetwear aesthetic. So, I started paying more attention to those who still wear baggy jeans but without overdoing it, keeping that OG vibe alive.

Let’s look at some examples.

Wade Desarmo
Famous for his steezy, gangsta style since his earliest footage, Wade has set the standard for steeziness in the skate industry. Even though he’s toned down the bagginess, he hasn’t lost an ounce of steez - in fact, he’s added some extra class. His look remains clean, relaxed, and effortlessly stylish.

Caleb Barnett
Caleb has insane style on the board, but his off-board style is just as on point. His fits show attention to detail, including the perfect level of baggyness.

Marcello Campanello
With a very italiano style 🤌🏻 we had to dig through his posts to find him rocking jeans, but it was worth it.

 

Hip-hop has always been a major influence on baggy jeans. But while some rappers take it to the extremes, either ultra-baggy or ultra-skinny (yeah, we’ve seen some wild fits in recent years), let’s focus at some who have mastered the perfect balance.

A$AP Rocky
We all know A$AP is one of the biggest streetwear and fashion icons out there. And luckily for me, he proves my point, often showcasing the perfect level of jeans bagginess in his outfits. 

Joey Bada$$
 A perfect jeans fit wearing Awake NY, a brand founded by former Supreme Brand Director Angelo Baque. Awake NY perfectly captures ‘90s New York streetwear culture and its melting-pot energy - a blend of skateboarding and hip-hop influences.

Premo Rice
Premo is not only the first rapper on this list without a dollar sign in his name, but he also has a laid-back timeless style that definitely deserves to be featured in future blog posts. From OG Sergio Tacchini tracksuits to carefully curated accessories, his style is never overly baggy, if anything, it sits right on the edge between wide and fitted, and the same goes for his jeans.

 

At the end of the day, baggy jeans are about personal style. But one thing is clear: choosing a moderately baggy fit is a foolproof move. It gives you a timeless, OG streetwear look that’s not just about trends but about true style.
